The Reid Rooms Wedding Photography
Wedding Photography The Reid Rooms: From the first time I met Amy and Steve, I just knew that their wedding day would be a fun and loving celebration. The wedding was at The Reid Rooms, a superb rural location between Chelmsford and Dunmow, Essex.

I love photographing at The Reid Rooms, and so, with the venue looking fabulous, the bride looking gorgeous, the groom looking handsome, and with the sun shining, everything was set for what was to be a brilliant wedding for everyone.
Let’s find out more about the couple and their big day from Amy and Steve.
How did you guys meet?
We met online on a dating website; we lived 42 miles apart at the time, so we had to travel back and forth to see each other, mainly at weekends. As our relationship developed, we found it very difficult to be apart. So in January 2014, we moved in together. In May 2014, we found out we were expecting our first baby! We were over the moon.
How did Steve propose?
On our 3rd anniversary on 26th October 2014, whilst away in Suffolk, we went for a lovely walk in Rendlesham Forest, where Steve got down on one knee! On Christmas Eve, 3 weeks early, our baby girl, Isla, was born, we fell in love with her. Then, the wedding plans began, we set a date for 14th May 2017.
How would you describe the spirit of your day?
Our day was very romantic and had a lovely relaxed feel, which our guests also commented on. The sun was shining, and everyone seemed to have a beautiful day and really enjoyed it.
Was there a theme to your wedding? If yes, what was the theme, and why?
Our theme was something blue; we had baby blue as our colour. The bridesmaids’ dresses, flowers, and cake all tied in with this. We chose blue as we both love the colour and thought the baby blue would be perfect for a May wedding.
How did you decide on your wedding venue and/ or your reception?
We went to a wedding fair at The Reid Rooms and loved it straight away. It had a very personal and quirky feel and seemed the perfect size venue for the number of guests we would be having. There is also a farmhouse there that sleeps 20 people, which was a huge bonus and meant there could be somewhere for our immediate family and us to stay the night of the wedding. The grounds are beautiful, and we saw the potential for some great pictures to be captured at the venue.
What was the best moment(s) of your wedding day?
Walking down the aisle was a fantastic feeling seeing all our closest friends and family in the ceremony Room. Being pronounced husband and wife was excellent, and generally sharing the best day of our lives with all the people we love. Having all the pictures taken was fun, and Jeff captured unforgettable moments of our day.
What style was your wedding dress, and who was it by?
My wedding dress was a strapless fishtail with lovely pearl detailing and was by Maggie Sotterro.
What did the groom and ushers wear?
The groom and ushers wore lovely tailored navy blue suits with brown shoes. They were hired from Anthony’s in Billericay, and we were delighted with them. All the men looked very dapper on the day, and the suits were a great fit.
Were there any meanings behind any of the aspects of your wedding? i.e. Theme, colour, food, seating arrangements, cake, venue?
Our cake was a birdcage cake, tied in with the birdcage centrepieces on the tables and the place name cards. We chose birdcages as we thought birds/birdcages represent tranquillity and love and look very pretty.
What flowers did you choose for your bouquets?
I had artificial flowers. The bouquets were a mix of Ivory and two shades of blue with pearls and diamantés. They were created by Cathy at By Finesse.
What was the title of the song for your first dance? Why did you choose that particular song?
We chose Perfect by Ed Sheeran. We have always been fans of Ed and saw him together at Wembley a couple of years ago, so we would always have one of his songs for our first dance.
Where did you go for your honeymoon? What made you choose that place?
We went to Mexico for a week for our honeymoon, and it was terrific. We chose this destination because it looked beautiful and ideal for relaxing for a week. Our resort was adults only, and we couldn’t fault it.
What tips would you give to other couples when planning their wedding day?
Plan everything well in advance so you can take your time. And make sure you have the wedding that you both want as it’s your big day and should be about the two of you.
