Wedding Photography Penyard House
The more I look at this fabulous couple’s photos, the more I love everything about their day. It’s wonderfully casual, massively fun and full of the best homemade touches by talented friends and family. For Tony and Tamsin’s wedding, I’d travelled to fantastic Penyard House near Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire.
Although I’m predominantly a wedding photographer in Suffolk, I travel throughout the UK photographing weddings, so I was excited to have been booked to photograph Tamsin and Tony’s wedding.
Below, Tamsin tells us more about their special day.
Would you please tell us a little about yourselves?
We met about 8.5 years ago but were friends for around six months before we became a couple. We met on a dance floor, and if I am honest, I thought he fancied my mate – it turned out I was wrong. We actually booked the wedding before there were any proposals and then proposed to each other in Paris. Tony proposed to me up the Eifel Tower at minus 3 degrees; he did not stay down on one knee very long!
How would you describe the spirit of your day?
Our day was informal and fun; it turned out exactly as I had wanted with no stress and just relaxed with everyone getting on with each other and enjoying a good drink and a dance.
How did you decide on the venue of your wedding and your reception?
The venue was a bit of a fluke, we were staying locally for my Mum’s birthday, and as we were driving around, we were writing down the names of each place we passed. We looked online at them all and found Penyard House; it was perfect.
What was the best moment(s) of your wedding day?
I loved all of my wedding day, but there was one point on the dance floor when I looked around me, and there was just a circle of people around me, all with air guitars, and I thought this was just what I wanted!
What style was your wedding dress, and who was it by?
I had my dress made by a friend of a friend as I could not get what I wanted in a shop. I was very keen to have a red wedding dress and have a high low hem. My skirt had a long skirt over a short skirt, and the long skirt was detachable. I think I first designed a wedding dress with this feature when I was about 16!
What did the groom and ushers wear?
The boys looked brilliant in suites. The groom and the best man matched, but the others had ties and buttonholes to link the outfits.
What was the title of the song for your first dance? Why did you choose that particular song?
We chose Human by the Killers. This song was played a lot when we first met, and I got Tony an iPod for our first Xmas together with “are we human or are we dancer” engraved on the back.
Where are you planning to go, or where did you go, for your honeymoon. What made you choose that place
We had a few days relaxing in Kos and are planning a more extended honeymoon in the new year. For the long honeymoon, we are aiming towards South East Asia.
What tips would you give to other couples when planning their wedding day?
Don’t overcomplicate it; try not to put yourself into debt and do what you can to make it more personal. Make yourselves an action plan and stick to it, and have super organised bridesmaids.
From the couple:
“This is the second time I have booked Jeff for a wedding, which is a testimonial in itself. The first time I booked him was on behalf of a friend, and I received his details from a personal recommendation, and the second time was for my wedding. I really like how Jeff deals with people; he is easygoing and flexible but gets the best out of his subjects and shots. His service is relaxed but professional, and we got the pictures back in perfect time and are having a lot of fun going through them. The photos are exceptional, and we love how they have turned out.”
Congratulations, Tammy and Tony. It was an absolute pleasure photographing your wedding. Sending you lots of love and wishing you both a wonderful life together. Jeff
