Santorini Gem Wedding Photography | Jo and Cody
When Jo telephoned me about photographing her and Cody’s wedding, I was driving through the Lombardi region of North Italy by Lake Como. When she said she and Cody had chosen to get married in Santorini, the Greek island, I was as excited about it as they were.
Engagement
Jo and Cody first met 11 years before and so had known each other since they were kids. Cody proposed to Jo while on a family holiday together in Tenerife in 2016.
Destination Wedding Photographer
So how did Jo and Cody end up booking an Essex wedding photographer for their wedding? Jo is a talented makeup artist and came to my studio a couple of years ago with a group of photographs she needed photographing.
Santorini Wedding Venue
They had decided on Santorini after seeing photographs of the island. Jo had flown out twice before the wedding and loved Santorini itself and the venue, Santorini Gem. Jo said that she just knew it was right as it gave her such a beautiful feeling.
I flew out to Santorini a couple of days before the wedding to allow for potential flight delays. Also, this gave me time to take a look around the island and visit the wedding venue beforehand.
Wedding Details
Jo wore a beautiful wedding dress- a high lace fishtail gown – by Maggie Sottero. The bridesmaids’ dresses were from Blue Poppy Boutique, and the men’s suits were from Anthony’s Formalwear. Cody wore a navy blue suit with a pale blue shirt and a navy tie, the best man, ushers, and pageboys wore navy blue trousers/shorts, white shirts, blue braces, and dickie bow ties.
Jo’s bouquet and the men’s buttonholes were made of roses, while peonies made up the bridesmaid’s bouquets.
A Wonderful Day
It was an absolutely fantastic day from start to finish. They had a beautiful ceremony overlooking the Aegean Sea, followed by a sumptuous wedding breakfast buffet. For their first dance, they chose ‘Tenerife Sea” by Ed Sheeran as this was they got engaged in Tenerife, and they love the song.
For their honeymoon, Jo and Cody went to the Maldives as it had always been one of the places they wanted to visit.
Jo’s Tips for a Destination Wedding.
To anyone planning to get married abroad, I’d say, “Go for it.” Be sure to check everything out first and give all your guests a couple of years notice.
