Wedding Photography Leez Priory
I had a brilliant day providing photographing the wedding of Andy and Mel at Leez Priory wedding venue. The venue looked stunning, and with the weather being glorious, everything was set for a fantastic day ahead.
Let’s hear from Mel and Andy about their fantastic wedding at Leez Priory,
What made you choose me as your wedding photographer
We knew there were many Essex Wedding Photographers to choose from, but we wanted someone special who would get to know us and then create photographs that captured our personality. We are thrilled with all of the pictures.
Please tell us how you met.
We met as we were both members of our local triathlon club, training together for some time before we got together and went on our first date. Soon, we both knew that we were made for each other and decided to move in together!
What about the proposal?
Andy surprised me with the proposal (and a beautiful ring) whilst out for dinner at The Shard. We were celebrating my birthday in 2015 after we had been together for two years. He had brought my birthday presents to dinner, which I had opened one by one over pre-dinner drinks. Hours later, whilst enjoying the views across London, he suddenly exclaimed that he’d found another present at the bottom of the bag. He slid a silver ring box across the table, with the words ‘will you marry me’ engraved across the top. Of course, I burst into tears and said yes.
What style was your wedding dress, and who was it by?
I wore a white Pronovias dress, an elegant mermaid cut in lace, fitted to the hips with an open back. It was so comfy and easy to wear! I wish I could wear it again!!!
What did the groom and ushers wear?
Charcoal grey three-piece Hugo Boss suits, with red ties. There were no ushers, so it was just the groom and the best man in this ‘uniform’.
How would you describe the spirit of your wedding day?
We were both very keen for all of our guests to enjoy the day as much as we did! The ceremony was romantic, set in the beautiful tower, like something out of a fairy tale! In addition, we wanted everyone to have a fun, relaxed day, and we were so fortunate as the sun shone on the day for us so that everyone could enjoy the venue’s beautiful grounds!
Was there a theme to your wedding?
There was no specific theme; however, our theme colour was red, honouring Andy’s beloved football team, Arsenal. Our seating plan and table names also reflected this theme.
How did you decide on the venue of your wedding and your reception?
I think that fate chose for us! A few months after the proposal, we headed off to a club cross country race and passed signposts to ‘Leez Priory’. We had moved to Great Dunmow only weeks earlier, so we were unaware of what it was and googled it. My google search immediately listed it as a wedding venue, and we decided to pop in on our way home. So, hours later, covered in mud and probably not looking our best, we followed the signs to the venue. Getting out of the car, we both looked at each other and decided that this was ‘the place’! We never did look at any other venues!
What was the best moment of your wedding day?
The entire day was honestly the best day of my life. I didn’t stop smiling once, and (unfortunately) it all flew by far too quickly! I was super-organised before the big day, so I could relax and just enjoy the day. Every person involved (especially you, Jeff!) helped make the day so perfect, and for that, I just can’t thank everyone enough! We both wish we could go back and do it all again!!!
Were there any meanings behind any of the aspects of your wedding?
I had our cake topper made especially for us, depicting us in our GB triathlon suits with our race bikes behind us! We are both GB age-group triathletes, so the design was appreciated by all of our triathlete friends and featured on the front of our thank-you cards!
Did you follow any family wedding traditions? What do you do?
No family traditions; however, I did wear my Dad’s wedding ring for the day. I was a total Daddy’s girl and lost my beloved Dad in 2002, so my wedding day was always going to be hard to get through without him. I hope I did him justice in the wedding speech I gave in his absence.
What was the title of the song for your first dance? Why did you choose that particular song?
We don’t really have ‘a song’……unless you count Rhianna’s ‘We Found Love’, which Andy loves as it reminds him of me drinking a little bit too much during one of our early dates! Apparently, I stood in the middle of a dance floor and bellowed it at the top of my voice!! So, this song followed our first dance. I arranged (as a surprise for Andy) for his very talented niece to sing our first dance, which was a Mamas and Papas song ‘Dream A Little Dream Of Me’. It’s a song that reminds Andy of his childhood.
What tips would you give to other couples when planning their wedding day?
Don’t get too weighed down by the little details! Decide what you want and give yourselves some considerable time to get everything done, so you can do a little at a time, without rushing or having to stress. It helps to spread the cost of things this way too. After all, it’s just a party….and once you have the dress and the rings, what else do you really need?! 🙂
