Charlotte and Lewis’ Colchester Town Hall Wedding
Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of photographing Charlotte and Lewis’ Colchester Town Hall Wedding. The wedding ceremony took place in The Moot Hall, which is stunning and adorned with Baroque architectural features.
Congratulations, Charlotte and Lewis
If you are looking for an Essex or Suffolk Wedding Photographer, I would love to hear from you.
Below, Charlotte and Lewis share with us about their Colchester Town Hall Wedding and their reception.
Charlotte, how did you both meet, and how did Lewis propose?
We met whilst working together at a restaurant and then became a couple in 2016. Lewis proposed on my 20th birthday in July 2017; he was crying before he’d even manage to ask me the question fully! Of course, I said yes straight away.

How would you describe your day?
Our wedding was intimate, informal and casual, just the way we wanted it
How did you decide on the venue of your wedding ceremony?
We decided on Colchester Town Hall as we are both from Colchester. We love that it was in the middle of town and the architecture and scenery in the Town Hall are stunning. The staff were so friendly from the moment we enquired about the Town Hall, and we knew it was the perfect place for our wedding ceremony.
What was the best moment of your wedding day?
For me, the best moment of the day was when I was walking down the aisle towards Lewis – words can’t explain that feeling.
Where was your wedding reception?
We chose to have our reception at a beautiful pub in West Bergholt. West Bergholt holds lots of family memories for Charlotte during her childhood and teenage years.
Was there a theme to your wedding? What colours?
Red was our theme colour- bridal flowers, Bridesmaids dresses, Groomsmen ties, Groom’s buttonhole, decorations- as red is both of our favourite colours.
What flowers did you choose for your bouquets?
I chose red roses for the bridal bouquet and white roses for the bridesmaids’ bouquets, and I made and arranged the bridal bouquet and both the bridesmaids’ bouquets myself.
Where did you go for your honeymoon?
We flew out to Benidorm for a few days after the wedding as it’s somewhere we’ve both wanted to go since we first became a couple, and it was a lovely short getaway!
What tips would you give to other couples when planning their wedding day?
We would say not to worry what other people think; it’s YOUR wedding day. Invite who you want, do what you want, you don’t have to follow traditions if you don’t want to. Also, try not to stress too much about the small details. I was worrying about napkins in the days before the wedding, haha! Those things won’t matter; it’s about enjoying your day with your spouse, family, and friends. Please make the most of it; it goes by so fast!
In their own words
We would highly recommend Jeff Turnbull as a photographer; he was so helpful and friendly! So many of our family members on the wedding day said how fantastic Jeff was as a photographer. Also, how he made everyone feel very comfortable. When deciding on a photographer, we knew he was the wedding photographer for us when we spoke to Jeff, and we were right. The photos looked amazing and of fantastic quality; we were so happy with all the memories that Jeff captured. The day went so quickly, but thanks to Jeff, he captured all the moments so we can look back on them in the future. Thank you, Jeff! From Charlotte and Lewis
