Nicky & Phil | Oakley Court Hotel Wedding Photography
It was a lovely day when I got to photograph the wedding of Nicky & Phil. I’d had the pleasure of photographing Nicky’s twin sister’s wedding a year before, and so it was wonderful to be back with the family and friends.
I initially caught up with Nicky and her bridesmaids at the hairdressers, where they were all having their hair and makeup done. Once back at the house and ready, it was time to all make our way to the Oakley Court Hotel in Windsor for the beautiful day ahead.
Although I’m predominately an Essex and Suffolk wedding photographer, I travel around the UK photographing weddings. If you’re looking for a photographer, please let me know.
Would you please tell us about yourselves?
Nicky and I met in 2013 at the Egham Social Club, at one of the many SKA nights they have there. I proposed to Nicky outside Wembley Stadium near the statue of Bobby Moore. Due to our joint passion for football, I thought of this as the ideal place for my proposal.
How would you describe the spirit of your day?
Our day would definitely be described as Romantic. It was full of Joy and Happiness, and everyone there had fun and could see the beautiful splendour of it all.
Was there a theme to your wedding? If yes what was the theme and why?
The theme we decided on was to follow the colours of the Royal Air Force, since this is my occupation. We wanted it to follow a vintage style with a mixture of Royal Blue colours.
How did you decide on the venue of your wedding
Not long after the proposal, we both decided we should start looking for a venue straight away. After looking at several, none quite matched up to our wishes or expectations; we finally settled on the magnificent Oakley Court Hotel after being won over by its luxurious setting and picturesque surroundings.
What was the best moment(s) of your wedding day?
It is hard to pick just one moment from such a special and romantic day. For me I would say the best moment was seeing Nicky walk down the aisle. To see such beauty walking towards me and about to say her vows to me was something so special that no words could do it justice.
For Nicky it would be the photos out on the lawn. To share such special memories with all our friends and family was something very special indeed.
Were there any meanings behind any of the aspects of your wedding?
We wanted our cake to follow our Royal Air Force and vintage theme, and we were very impressed with the results. A little football theme was observed, with our tables named after Manchester United and Sunderland Legends.
Did you follow any family wedding traditions? What do you do?
We followed a few traditions, with Nicky being driven from her home to the venue and having photos of the most recently passed family members on the top table.
What was the title of the song for your first dance? Why did you choose that particular song?
We both decided on Enrique Iglesias – Hero, as our first song. Its a song we both liked and decided that was the one we both wanted.
What tips would you give to other couples when planning their wedding day?
Plan well in advance and get things booked early to avoid last minute panic. And most important, BOOK JEFF TURNBULL!! His photography is AMAZING!!.
