So it’s over to Louise & Sam to find out all about them and their amazing wedding day
How did you both meet?
Sam and I have been together a little over 6 years. We went to the same school, sam was 2 years above me and one of the ‘cool’ boys! I always fancied him but could never bring myself to speak to him. Some of my friend’s siblings were in sam’s friendship group and vice versa.
How was the proposal?
We got together a year after I left school, and just clicked immediately. After 3 years of being inseparable Sam popped the question on my 21st birthday, after spoiling me with birthday gifts he then presented a box full of rose petals and pictures of each year of our relationship. I just thought it was an extra little gift he had made me, until I had finished revealing layer after layer of photos, petals and cute notes and came across a glistening engagement ring!
He then took me to my best friend’s house were she had gathered all of my friends for a surprise engagement party!
How would you describe the spirit of your day?
Our wedding day was so perfect, it was laid-back but sophisticated at the same time. It felt so classy and elegant, yet everyone was so relaxed and the atmosphere felt so vibrant, it helped that the weather was on our side. We had glorious sunshine!
Was there a theme to your wedding?
We didn’t really want a definite ‘theme’ i just knew i wanted it to be elegant and classy, a modern take on a classic vintage style. Lots of flowers and sparkle. I think it went perfectly with the venue.
How did you decide on the venue of your wedding?
We didn’t look at many venue’s before deciding on Channels Golf Club. It had the luxurious feel without costing the earth and the staff seemed really helpful and friendly. We just instantly got a great vibe walking around the place, it was the perfect setting for our wedding and the number of guests we were catering for.
What was the best moment(s) of your wedding day?
One of the best moments, besides walking down the aisle to the man of my dreams, was dancing on the dance floor in the evening and realising my favourite song had just come on. Then to notice all of my close friends appearing from every direction to join me as they all knew it was my favourite song. It was a great moment having them all around me and together in one room.
What style was your wedding dress and who was it by?
I had a fishtail dress made by Ronald Joyce. It originally had capped sleeves but I had them removed, so it had a sweetheart neckline with lots of sparkle all the way down to the skirt. It was very figure hugging with quite a prominent flare. I loved it so much, i didn’t want to take it off. I felt like a true princess!
Were there any meanings behind any of the aspects of your wedding?
No, we just chose things that we loved, and had lots of fun in the process!
Did you follow any family wedding traditions?
My (Louise) family is quite small, as both my parents are only children. So I haven’t been to a family wedding since I was about 6 years old. We didn’t have any traditions to carry on, we just did what was right for us.
What was the title of the song for your first dance? Why did you choose that particular song?
We had Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran. As soon as I heard this song on the radio for the first time, I could just imagine dancing with Sam on our wedding day. It was just perfect, a timeless classic song.
What tips would you give to other couples when planning their wedding day
Don’t let anyone try and tell you what you should or shouldn’t do on your wedding day. It’s your day, your choice. Everyone will accept it on the day and be happy for you. And don’t stress over the little things, finer details don’t matter, no one notices them but you.
