9 Questions To Consider When Choosing Your Wedding Photographer
Choosing the right photographer for your wedding day can be difficult, but it needn’t be. So to make things a little easier for you, please find below some things to consider for your wedding photography.
1. What style of photographs are you looking for?
Would you prefer more relaxed photographs, more formal photographs or a combination of both?
2. Is the photographer professionally qualified?
Look for LMPA, AMPA or FMPA after their name. Giving you added protection and guarantee of quality photographs
3. Do you like the photographer?
You will naturally respond better to somebody you like, resulting in better photographs on your special day.
4. Do you like the photographer’s portfolio?
Ask to see examples of their albums and photographs.
5. Should you entrust a family member or friend?
What happens should something go wrong – could it destroy the friendship, or would you be able to forgive them?
6. How many photographers should you meet?
Meet two or three photographers. If you meet too many, this will take up a lot of your time.
7. Does the photographer have Professional Insurance cover?
All professional photographers will have Public Liability and Public Indemnity insurance. Ask them!
8. Does the photographer have backup equipment?
Although equipment rarely fails, it can still fail!
9. Are they the photographer that will photograph your wedding?
Be sure that you confirm which photographer is going to be there.
Once you have decided on a wedding photographer:
- Take time to discuss your requirements.
- Ensure that you receive written terms and conditions before parting with any money
- For a wedding, consider having a pre-wedding /engagement shoot. This gives you and your photographer a chance to know each other and be more prepared for the big day.
- Find out what happens after the photographs are taken. Timescales, viewings etc
